Bogus Balsamico?

At the beginning of September, there was a German TV report about faked Aceto Balsamico di Modena being sold at one of our competitor Oil & Vinegar Shops. According to the local vomFASS franchisor, this report was based on a non-licensed third party product that was damaging the entire Oil & Vinegar franchise and brand.

Of course, vomFASS’ unique franchises were never affected by this hoax.  Our carefully selected, long-term suppliers of Aceto Balsamico guarantee our products authenticity and quality. Both our suppliers and vomFASS are under supervision by an independent control body (CSQA) for production and bottling of Aceto Balsamico di Modena IGP. Each stock receipt and shipment of Aceto Balsamico di Modena are assiduously accounted for and verified with the required corresponding certification. We have to report our monthly figures of Aceto Balsamico di Modena to the controlling regulatory body. vomFASS AG is one of the few German companies allowed to bottle true Aceto Balsamico di Modena IGP.

vomFASS Cranberry Apple Chutney
Makes 2 cups


  • 2 large Granny Smith apples, peeled, cored & chopped
  • 1/2 cup Onion, chopped
  • 1/2 cup Dried cranberries
  • 1/4 cup vomFASS Cranberry Vinegar
  • 1/4 cup Brown sugar, packed
  • 1 T. Orange zest
  • 1 T. Ginger, grated
  • 1/2 t. Allspice
  • 1 t. Mustard seeds


  1. Combine all ingredients in a medium saucepan, stir well.
  2. Bring to a boil; reduce heat and simmer, covered, for 40 minutes.
  3. Remove cover and simmer over low heat to reduce excess liquid; let cool.
  4. Cover and refrigerate for up to 2 weeks.
