Dallas-Area Family Leads All Franchisees in Year-Over-Year Growth in 2018

There is an old saying that that everything is bigger in Texas and our Dallas-area franchisees are proving this to be true.  Mike and Denise Burkey, a husband and wife team who currently own and operate two stores in Plano with their son Patrick, are getting ready to close out 2018 by leading all vomFASS locations in the U.S. in year-over-year sales growth!  Both Denise and Patrick manage and operate their respective locations and Mike brings years of experience in corporate franchise training while continuing to work full time.

Much like their impressive growth, the challenges they faced and the solutions they implemented were certainly no small feat. Their path to success started with finding consistent revenue streams outside of the walls of their stores.  Earlier this year, they were able to identify opportunities at weekly farmers markets in their territory.  This has proved to be a great tool to drive sales and increase brand awareness for their two stores.

“Recognizing the need to think out of the box, the Burkeys challenged themselves to reassess their initial sales and marketing strategies.  After our initial visit and review of their lack luster sales, no walk by traffic and betting on the future development in and around their stores, the they made huge efforts to realign their expectations. With Denise now head of Business Development and Patrick, head of Store Operations, both have developed the necessary tools to build all aspects of their franchise locations,” said Elaine Sugimura, CEO of vomFASS in the United States.

Custom gift sets and festive bottles are just part of what makes vomFASS so great for gifting!

In addition to farmers markets, the team took full advantage of every lead to manufacture sales. Denise has shifted her focus to business development by marketing to local businesses and has achieved significant returns on this time investment so far during this holiday season.  She has been able to secure corporate gifting accounts and worked with private groups for special in-store tasting events.  These events are great for introducing new customers to the vomFASS concept and continue to prove their value as a low-cost customer acquisition tool.

Their hard work was highlighted by an invitation to participate as a vendor at the prestigious “Enchant” event, held from November 23rd-December 30th at Globe Life Park in Arlington.  This interactive, family-friendly event is home to “The World’s Largest Christmas Light Maze”, a bustling artisan Christmas Market, an Ice Skating Trail, seasonal food and beverage, as well as other seasonal special events.  The event is set to bring in over 400,000 visitors throughout the holiday season and has already proven to be a successful endeavor, resulting in significant off-site sales and as well as increased visibility for their stores.

“With a permanent farmers market location, strong corporate accounts to amazing event planning it was inevitable that success would be on the horizon.  A full calendar year later, it is exciting to see their growth and upward movement within the franchisee system.  Success deserves an applause and there is no doubt we are proud of their achievements this year.  Here’s to 2019.” said Sugimura.  The Burkeys will look to build upon their successes with future locations in the Dallas area.  They are set to open an additional shop in 2019 and are constantly searching for the perfect locations for additional future stores.
