A Blue Ribbon Day In Cary, North Carolina

I had a chance to chat with Julie Ginsler, the busy owner of the newly opened vomFASS store at the Waverly Place Shopping Center in Cary, North Carolina.

Toni Jakovec: Good morning, Julie. I hear there were some big happenings at your store a couple of weeks ago. Why don’t you tell us about it?
Julie Ginsler: Yes indeed. We had our official Grand Opening March 21, 22 and 23.
TJ: What kind of activities did you plan for your grand opening?
JG: We began Thursday evening with an after-hours VIP kick-off for family, friends and our shopping center neighbors. The VIP event was catered by our Waverly Place restaurant neighbor. They created some wonderful appetizers using vomFASS products. We had salads and spectacular Italian finger foods, like meatballs and mushrooms. It was fabulous. Then the next morning we had the official, open to the public, grand opening. We started the day off with Strawberry-Mango Smoothies and our jams, all made with vomFASS vinegars of course. Around mid-day we began serving salads and bread dipping, and different drinks were served throughout the day.
TJ: Tell me Julie, did you do all of this food preparation yourself?
JG: Heavens no! My wonderful staff are all amazing cooks and I owe my grand opening success to them! They were really excited and each staff member made at least one dish for the grand opening and were very proud to talk about the products and how they had used them.
TJ: That’s terrific team work. Can you tell me what each staff member did?
JG: Yes, it is a great team.
Liz made Gnocchi with vomFASS Truffle Extra Virgin Olive Oil.
Stephanie prepared granola with vomFASS FassZination Walnut Oil and won ton crackers with vomFASS FassZination Pesto Ligure.
Kathy made Cardamom cake with vomFASS Cardamom and vomFASS Don Carlos Extra Virgin Olive Oil.
Jenn brought Spinach Salad with goat cheese and berries, dressed with vomFASS Strawberry Vinegar and vomFASS Basil Extra Virgin Olive Oil.
Judy prepared Brie and Quince bites (gourmet Imports) drizzled with vomFASS Star Date Vinegar, vomFASS Fig Chili Vinegar and vomFASS Cream Spice Date Balsamic Vinegar.
TJ: Nice menu.
JG: Everything was yummy!!!


JG: Sunday was family day. This was fun. We offered ice cream sundaes with fabulous vomFASS toppings. We did Pistachio Oil with Fleur de Sel, and we passed around a variety of vomFASS balsamics. I hired a face painter for the kids and I did it too!
TJ: Good for you, Julie. Was there a lot of activity at the registers?
JG: Absolutely. In fact, we offered a fun kind of discount for the entire three days. We had three dice that each customer rolled, and the total of the three was the discount the customer received. It was a lot of fun and the customers loved it.


TJ: It sounds like a very successful opening.
JG: It was. We had terrific feedback on Twitter and Facebook. Everyone loved it. And again, I must say, this was just not possible without the best staff in the world. They were so eager to pitch in, they invited their friends and family and made all the difference. Talking about the products with the customers, preparing all that food…..they were amazing!

Julie’s Grand Opening “Strawberry-Mango Smoothie”

Ingredients (2-4 servings):

2 cups almond milk (original)
1 cup vanilla greek yogurt
1 T honey
3 T vomFASS Strawberry Balsamic Vinegar
3 T vomFASS Mango Balsam Vinegar
1 tsp vomFASS Cardamom
¾ cup strawberries or ¾ cup fresh mango
1 cup ice cubes

Blend together all ingredients in blender.
