VomFASS Cary Shares Unique Recipes With WNCN-TV

Julie Ginsler, owner of vomFASS’s Cary, North Carolina location recently appeared on WNCN-TV’s My Carolina Today to create two exclusive beverages perfect to surprise your loved one with on Valentines Day.

Made from the vomFASS line of fruit-infused vinegars, Julie demonstrated the versatility of our exclusive vinegars by creating the Strawberry Lassi––filled with fresh strawberries, Greek yogurt, and vomFASS’s Strawberry Balsamic vinegar. As hosts Mike and Valonda sampled Julie’s creation, she went to work putting together a vomFASS specialty––the Raspberry spritzer. Comprised of Raspberry Balsamic Vinegar, Calamansi, mineral water and a splash of ginger, this drink is sure to put a smile on anyone’s face all year round.

Valonda: Flowers, chocolate, dinner, they’re all great. But we’ve got a treat you can share with your sweetie on Valentine’s Day morning.

Mike: Julie Ginsler of vomFASS, is that how you pronounce it? vomFASS?

Julie Ginsler: That is right.

Mike: Is here with a Valentine’s Day morning alcohol-free surprise drink for your loved one. Julie, welcome.

Julie Ginsler: Thank you.

Mike: It’s already…

Julie Ginsler: Glad to be here.

Mike: It already smells so good.

Valonda: It really does.

Julie Ginsler: Thank you.

Mike: First off, explain those. What is vomFASS?

Julie Ginsler: vomFASS is a German company from southern Germany. And we sell specialty oils, vinegars and spices from around the world.

Valonda: Okay.

Julie Ginsler: Very special vinegars.

Valonda: And that name is translated to, from the …

Julie Ginsler: They’re from the cask.

Valonda: Cask, okay.

Julie Ginsler: And that means, actually, on-tap …

Valonda: Okay.

Julie Ginsler: … and tasting.

Valonda: Got it. So you have two drinks for us?

Julie Ginsler: We do. I do.

Valonda: What are you starting with?

Julie Ginsler: I’m starting with a Lassi, a Strawberry Lassi.

Valonda: Okay.

Julie Ginsler: And I’ve already premade it, so we’ve already got it ready. But I’ll tell you what’s in it. We have fresh strawberries. I have a Greek yogurt. Our Strawberry Balsamic Vinegar. A little bit of Cardamom and honey.

Valonda: Cardamom, what is that?

Julie Ginsler: It is from the ginger family. It is a spice.

Valonda: Oh, nice.

Julie Ginsler: And it is lovely, creamy. It’s used a lot in baking around the holidays.

Valonda: It smells delicious.

Mike: You don’t remember that lesser known Spice Girl, Cardamom?

Valonda: Don’t remember her.

Mike: Oh, yeah. I think they cut her, pretty quickly.

Julie Ginsler: Do you like it?

Mike: That is really good.

Valonda: That is delicious.

Julie Ginsler: It’s one of my favorites.

Valonda: Oh.

Julie Ginsler: You can garnish it with a little bit of strawberry, and some extra Cardamom, if you want.

Mike: It also shows that you took the time to do something special to really make this Valentine’s Day morning, right?

Valonda: This is delicious.

Mike: It’s very good.

Julie Ginsler: Thank you.

Valonda: Oh my gosh. Okay, what’s the next one?

Julie Ginsler: Okay. The next one is one of vomFASS’ specialties, our vinegar drinks. And you can make vinegar drinks with any of our fruit vinegars. So what I’ve put together today, it has our raspberry. So this is the Raspberry Spritzer.

It has our Raspberry Balsamic Vinegar, and Calamansi, which is a fruit from the Philippines that we make into a very special vinegar. It’s a little bit of a citrusy flavor. So I’ve premixed this. This is . . .

Valonda: Mineral water.

Julie Ginsler: . . . mineral water, with a little bit of Ginger Ale in it. And I’ve just combined the two vinegars. And I’m just going to pour it in.

Valonda: I don’t think I’ve had drinks with vinegar too often.

Mike: I’ve never even heard of a drink that has vinegar in it.

Valonda: But it smells so good. I’m really …

Julie Ginsler: Yeah.

Valonda: … excited.

Julie Ginsler: So, the way that we make our vinegars, is we start with the fresh fruit that gets mashed into fruit juice. The juice gets made into wine. And the wine gets made into vinegar.

Mike: Thank you.

Valonda: Wow. Okay.

Mike: All right. We’re going to taste these.

Valonda: Oh, smells so good.

Mike: That’s …

Valonda: That is delicious.

Mike: It’s good.

Julie Ginsler: Thank you.

Valonda: Oh my.

Mike: And this is …

Valonda: And we’re drinking vinegar?

Julie Ginsler: You’re drinking vinegar.

Mike: And so, where do people . . . tell me the names of these two drinks, again.

Julie Ginsler: Okay. The first one was the Strawberry Lassi.

Mike: Strawberry Lassi.

Julie Ginsler: And the second one is a Raspberry Fizzy Soda.

Julie Ginsler of vomFASS in Cary shows us alcohol-free Valentine’s Day Drinks you can make for your loved one.

Strawberry Lassi

Ingredients:

  • 10 Strawberries (leave 3 for garnish, or use frozen and omit the ice)
  • 1 cup Greek yogurt
  • 1/2 cup water
  • 3-5 ice cubes
  • 2 T.vomFASS Strawberry Basalmic Vinegar
  • 1 T. honey
  • 1/2 tsp. vomFASS Cardamom

Preparation:

Place all ingredients in a blender. Blend on high for up to a minute. Divide into three cups or wine glasses. Sprinkle with vomFASS Cardamom and garnish with strawberry slices. Serves 3.

 

Raspberry Fizzy Soda

Ingredients:

  • 8 oz. Ginger Ale or Sparkling mineral water
  • 1 T. vomFASS Raspberry Balsamic Vinegar
  • 1 tsp. vomFASS Calamansi Balsamic Vinegar
  • Ice
  • Raspberries
  • Fresh mint leaves to garnish

Preparation:

Fill tall glass with ice, add Ginger Ale or Sparkling water, Raspberry and Calamansi vomFASS fruit vinegar, stir, garnish with fresh raspberries and mint. Increase proportions and enjoy a pitcher with friends and family.
