Around the World in 80 Tastes

As a regular reader of the vomFASS newsletter, you will know we have covered an array of vomFASS products originating in Spain, France, Italy and Germany. This week we will conclude our tour with products ranging in origin from Morocco to California.

Austria

vomFASS FassZination Styrian Pumpkin Seed Oil is also referred to as the “green gold of Styria.” This oil is produced exclusively from skinless grown pumpkin seeds of the Styrian oil pumpkin. Ecuador

vomFASS Avocado Extra Virgin Oil exhibits a fruity, slightly nutty flavor, with a delicate green color and gentle floral aromas. Greece

vomFASS FassZination Agora Extra Virgin Olive Oil is grown and produced in Greece from the Koroneiki olive variety. With distinctive grassy notes, Agora is a wonderful finishing oil for fish and pairs well in fruity salad dressings.

Morocco

vomFASS FassZination Argan Oil requires approximately 90 lbs. of almonds from fruits of the Moroccan argan tree. These nuts are then roasted, gently pressed and filtered to obtain 2 lbs. of this special organic oil. It is excellently well-suited for Oriental dishes, game and savory salads.

Russia

vomFASS FassZination Grape Seed Oil is produced in Siberia. Maintaining the smooth taste of the marc of the grape, the oil has a slightly nutty finish making it a perfect finishing oil for steamed vegetables and fish dishes. Pair with vomFASS Grape Balsamic Vinegar for a refreshing salad.

Ireland

Irish whiskey is triple-distilled for extra smoothness and aged in casks for a minimum of 4 (though usually 7-8) years. The aging casks are typically reused from bourbon, sherry or rum aging, bringing unique nuances of flavor to this popular whiskey. vomFASS brings this remarkable spirit to their shops including the following:

Scotland

Made only in Scotland, Scotch whisky has the distinctive smoky flavor derived from the sprouted malted barley which is dried over peat fires. United States

vomFASS Lino California Extra Virgin Olive Oil is a grassy, herbaceous blend of Ascolano and Arbequina olives, with a big fruity finish of peaches and apricots. When you are about to make dinner and suddenly realize you have no leafy greens in the fridge, it’s time to turn to your trusty root vegetables. Aside from their wonderful staying power, root vegetables are the perfect accompaniment to any dinner.

Ingredients:

Preparation:

  1. Preheat oven to 400º.
  2. Place baking sheet in oven as it heats.
  3. In a large bowl, combine all ingredients and toss to coat thoroughly.
  4. Using oven mitts, remove hot baking sheet and place on heat proof surface.
  5. Arrange vegetables on hot baking sheet, with space between each piece, and large pieces are placed flat side down.
  6. Bake for 15 minutes. Remove baking sheet and using a spatula, stir vegetables.
  7. Bake another 15 minutes, or until vegetables are gently soft and beautifully caramelized.
  8. Serve hot.
